The 2007 National Spelling Bee Winner is a boy named Evan Odorney. This marks two out of three years that a Californian has won the National Spelling Bee.
The final four were all in their final years of qualification. The boys were big 1-5 favorite to win heading into the competition.
A record 286 spellers came into the Scripps National Spelling Bee this year. This also became a competition between the USA vs Canada in the end as Evan Odorney of the US went up against Canadian Nate Gartke.
The Scripps National Spelling Bee (formerly known as the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee and commonly referred to simply as the National Spelling Bee) is a highly competitive annual spelling bee run on a not-for-profit basis by The E. W. Scripps Company, held in the ballroom at the Grand Hyatt Washington hotel in Washington, D.C. The competition is open to the winners of sponsored regional spelling bees held mostly throughout the United States. Contestants from Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, New Zealand, and the Bahamas have participated in the Scripps National Spelling Bee as well.
California's Evan O'Dorney, who won the national Spelling Bee, received a $35,000 prize, a $5,000 scholarship, a $2,500 savings bond and a set of reference books.

The Creation
Noong sinaunang panahon, bago ang earth and at lahat ng bagay dito, ang Panginoon lang ang nandito.
One day, sabi ng Panginoon, "Let there be light ." God called the light day, and the darkness He called night.
On day two , God made the sky.
On day three , God separated the land from the waters and created flowers, trees, and grass .
On day four ,God made the sun, moon, and stars.
On day five , the birds and fish were created.
On day six , God made animals and then He made people to be like Him. Pinangalanan niyang Adam ang lalaki, and Eve ang babae na kanyang naging asawa.
God rested on day seven . He saw everything He had made and said that it was good.
Ang hardin ang kanilang naging tahanan. Tinawag itong Garden of Eden. Sinabi ng Panginoon na pwedi nilang kainin ang lahat ng prutas at pagkaing naroon sa hardin maliban sa iisang puno na tinawag na tree of knowledge of good and evil. Nagsinungalin ang ahas (serpent) kay Eve, tinukso niya nitong mabuti at kumain siya sa bunga ng pinagbabawal na puno. Binigyan niya si Adam at kumain din ito. Sinuway nila ang utos ng Panginoon, nagalit ang Panginoon at sila'y pinaalis sa magandang Hardin ng Eden. Pagkatapos noon, kinailangan na nilang magsikap ng husto upang makakain at mabuhay sa mundo. Kaya laging tama at mainam na makinig at sumunod sa utos ng Panginoon.
Ang estoryang ito ay mababasa sa Bibliya sa Genesis chapters 1-3.
